  • Claudia Kemfert, Prof. Dr., is Head of the Department Energy, Transportation, Environment at DIW Berlin and Professor for Energy Economics and Sustainability at Hertie School of Governance. Sie studied economics at the Universities of Bielefeld and Oldenburg, and at Stanford University. She is an economic expert in the areas of energy research and climate protection. In 2016 she became a Member of the German Advisory Council on the Environment and received the German Solar Prize, as well as the Adam-Smith-Prize for market-based environmental policy.

She was a member of the Fortschrittsforum and an advisor to the Sub-Committee “Policy for a Sustainable Political and Economic Governance” (Nachhaltige Ordnungspolitik) of the Enquete “Committee of Growth – Prosperity – Quality of Life” (Wachstum Wohlstand Lebensqualität).
