- Joachim Nagel, Dr. is member of the Board of Managing Directors, KfW Bankengruppe. Nagel, born 1966 in Karlsruhe, Germany, holds a doctorate in economics. His career in the financial sector began in 1999 at Deutsche Bundesbank, where he led various teams and was a member of the Board of Managing Directors from 2010 to 2016. In November 2016 he was appointed General Representative of KfW Bankengruppe and became member of the Executive Board of KfW Bankengruppe in November 2017. In this function he is responsible for the banking group’s entire foreign business: financial cooperation with developing and emerging countries (KfW Entwicklungsbank and DEG) and export and project finance for the European economy (KfW IPEX-Bank). He is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KfW IPEX-Bank and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DEG, Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH. As a member of the expert group NextCMU he developed recommendations for the further development of the European Capital Market Union in 2019. Dr. Joachim Nagel will resign from his mandate as member of the Executive Board of KfW Bankengruppe on November 1, 2020 and will then join the Bank for International Settlements in Basel as Deputy Head of Banking and member of the Executive Board.
