Abstract
Picture of man and ethics of life
In view of increasing moralist, but also materialistic tendencies in society, the question of an underlying image of man, an ideal image of normativity, is very important. Following the sources of a Christian image of man in the biblical tradition, Platonic philosophy and the writings of St. Augustinus is to be shown that from the point of view of theological ethics (understood as moral theology), the speech culminates of the image of man in the image of God. Understood as a divinely founded kindness and necessity of human existence, it forms the innermost core of the inalienable human dignity. Platonically intended teleology of the person and biblical creation and salvation theory are therefore at the center of theological ethics of life.
