Abstract
It is the principal aim of this study to attempt, with the help of macroeconomic models, an explanation of lasting high unemployment with simultaneous inflation. This is not tried by an immediate application of exogenious structural arguments. For this purpose simplified dynamic post-Keynesian models for the short and the long run are constructed. In each case the possibility of permanent cycles with phases of stagflation is demonstrated. Although unemployment, caused by economic fluctuations, is prevalent, the instruments of traditional macroeconomic policy are bound to fail. Within an economic system which is regulated by markets, only an integrated growth and distribution policy is efficient for the fighting of unemployment. If such a policy shall be realistic, it will necessarily have to be orientated with regard to disequilibriums.
