Abstract
The starting point of this article are hypotheses about the influence of agglomeration effects on regional export activities, which are examined empirically. The regression model of Hellman leads to good empirical results when based on data for New Jersey, but doesn’t fit the data of North Rhine- Westphalia. Therefore it is modified by adding new types of agglomeration effects and by changing the operational definition of certain variables. Then the test leads to better results
