Abstract
The resocialization is integrated into the economic approach to crime
The analysis takes into account (after a critique of the Becker-model) instruments of deterrance as well as those not deterring. Criteria for the optimum enforcement of laws are presented. For the execution of a sentence in a penal institution, the optimal combination of correctional time and expenditure for resocialization is designed. It is assumed that the penal institutions aremanaged like economic enterprises and try to minimize recidivism. The model of a delinquent as a special homo oeconomicus is suitable for deterrance; modifications, however, are necessary in view of resocialization.
