Abstract

Rationality and Social Value System

Rationality and principle of rational behavior is an important item in economic science and sociology, in particular in the “gratification - and exchange-theory”. But there are few possibilities using rational behavior as an hypothesis in studying real actions. It seems that rationality should be seen as a value category itself. Individuals are exposed to a pressure of rationality derived from value system of society. In many cases their actions are not real “rational” but only “rationalized”
