Abstract

Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie die Arbeit mit psychisch kranken älteren Menschen so gestaltet werden kann, dass zum einen die vorhandenen Bedarfslagen bearbeitet werden können und zum anderen die Selbstbestimmung der KlientInnen gewahrt bleibt. Am Beispiel zentraler Praxissituationen wie z. B. die Abklärung von Bedarfslagen und die Organisation eines Hilfenetzwerks werden Einblicke in eine die Würde und Autonomie wahrende professionelle Handlungsweise gegeben.

Supporting Autonomous Living in Old Age for People with Psychical Illnesses

The paper deals with the question in which way social work should address psychially ill and older people. On the one hand, the existing needs have to be met. On the other hand, the autonomy and self-determination of the clients have to be respected. Central insights are given from the practise of social work, especially with regard to the way how needs are assessed and how supporting networks are installed.
