Abstract
Experiences with Youth Employment Agencies in Saarland: Youth Employment Agency in the Administrative District Neunkirchen and in the Regional Accociation Saarbrücken – Successes, Conditions and Challenges
Since the introduction of SGB II in 2005, additionally to the employment agencies (Agenturen für Arbeit) and youth welfare (Jugendhilfe), the job centers are responsible for the professional integration of socially disadvantaged or individually impaired young people. Due to a lack of coordination between jurisdictions, the integration of the youth is frequent interrupted. To promote cooperation between SGB II, III and VIII the widespread implementation of youth employment agencies (Jugendberufsagenturen) was promoted in the coalition agreement of the federal government in December 2013. In the federal state of Saarland, the first youth employment agency was opened in summer 2013 in the district (Landkreis) of Neunkirchen. In February 2014, the Regional Association (Regionalverband) of Saarbrücken founded a youth employment agency together with Employment Agency Saarland and Jobcenter Saarbrücken as the second district of Saarland.
Stefan Gerber from the District Youth Welfare Office (Kreisjugendamt) Neunkirchen and Claudia Barth from the Youth Welfare Office (Jugendamt) of the Regional Association Saarbrücken present previous experiences and derive appropriate key success factors for youth employment agencies.
