Abstract
On the failed reform of the right of abortion: a critical final view
The sometimes violent arguments about the abortion question have recently returned to the daily political stage. A cross -factional initiative had submitted a draft law that provided for the formal legalization of all pregnancy abortions carried out in accordance with the will of the pregnant women during the first trimester. In this context, not only a parliamentary debate has taken place, but the Legal Committee of the Bundestag also carried out a public expert hearing. The Reform draft ultimately rightly failed. Such a reform of the right to abortion not only would have terminated the pacifying compromise of the 1990s unilaterally, but even put up with a constitutional breach.
